19th & California - San Francisco

Software: After Effects CC / Illustrator CC

The fog we experience in the Bay Area has always fascinated me. The way it interacts and transforms the landscape and landmarks of the city can at times feel otherworldly.

This small cathedral looms just a block away from my apartment. The Church of Our Lady Kazan is a quaint little building, born as a congregation for Russian Orthodox families that began settling in San Francisco as early as the 1920s.

Created using an image from my phone, which I recreated in Illustrator and then brought into After Effects where I animated the fog.

The start of a series that explores Fog and it’s complicated relationship with The City.
