45th & Sloat - San Francisco

The fog we experience in the Bay Area has always fascinated me. The way it interacts and transforms the landscape and landmarks of the city can at times feel otherworldly.

Growing up, my grandparents lived on 46th and Ulloa - so usually a visit with them was accompanied by a trip to Carousel (formerly known as Doggie Diner), where I’d have dinosaur shaped chicken nuggets and play arcade games.
This fiber glass Dachshund loomed over head, albeit in much worse shape than it is today. The city restored and refurbished the sign in 2001, and it became an official landmark in 2006.

The Sunset will always be home to me and I will always love this quirky little dog for never letting me forget.

This was created in Procreate on the iPad, I then brought the illustration into After Effects where I animated the fog.
